2019-01-20CMake: Replace PACKAGELIST magicJoão Valverde1-0/+7
This is more explicit and easier to read with slightly better locality while using less code. Also less awkward when the package doesn't fit the narrow package list expectations. The ws_find_package() macro doesn't include all the status messages. The choice was to rely on standard find_package() and feature_summary() output and be less verbose. Avoid polluting the CLI build interface. Per target include paths and macro definitions are preferred. Because this patch intentionally removes the global CMAKE_*_FLAGS and include_directories() usage in favor of target properties, some untested build configurations may inadvertently break because of missing ${PACKAGE}_INCLUDE_DIRS or ${PACKAGE}_DEFINITIONS. This required a manual review of dependencies that might have been incomplete. ${PACKAGE_VAR}_LINK_FLAGS seems to be unused. Changing the CMake Qt code to use more modern CMake component syntax is left as future work. cmdarg_err() is for reporting errors for command-line programs and command-line errors in GUI programs; it's not something for any of the Wireshark libraries to use. The various routines for parsing numerical command-line arguments are not for general use, they're just for use when parsing arguments. When built with -DCMAKE_BUILD_WITH_INSTALL_RPATH=1, make-taps and make-dissectors fail to run because they cannot locate libwsutil.so.0. 2017-12-24Fix build and thread runtime compat with older GLibPeter Wu1-1/+2
CentOS 6 ships with glib 2.28.8 which do not support g_ptr_array_new_full (make-taps/make-dissectors) and need to link with wsutil for glib-compat. g_thread_new was only introduced with GLib 2.32 (not 2.31), so adjust the check accordingly. Abort in case thread creation fails (as documented). Properly initialize threads or it will abort on runtime (this also requires linking epan with gthreads in CMake, autotools already includes it with GLIB_LIBS). 2017-10-13CMake: Allow user build flags to override default build flagsJoão Valverde1-3/+4
Autotools has the very useful feature by design of allowing the user to override the default build flags (you break it you keep it). Apparently CMake applies COMPILE_OPTIONS target property after CMAKE_{C,CXX}_FLAGS so that doesn't work here. Prepend our flags to those variables instead to make it work then. Specific target flag overrides can still be added with COMPILER_OPTIONS (e.g: generated files with -Wno-warning) but this is less effective and then we're back at the point where this overrides user flags. It's less of a concern though. Since dissectors are now populating the timestamp of the seq_analysis_item_t structure within the tap function, don't have the sequence_anaylsis redo it when writing an ASCII file. This removes the need for the capture_file parameter and simplifies the logic a bit. Also just have GUI register the tap itself. It will provide for some more flexibility in the future. Instead of checking for the boolean "FALSE", just set an empty string. This avoids the need to check for WERROR_COMMON_FLAGS before using it. Setting our compiler warning flags in CMAKE_C_FLAGS does not allow using different flags per target. Allow for that possibility by setting the internal WS_WARNINGS_{C,CXX}_FLAGS and using the COMPILE_OPTIONS property to set them. This change is just setting mechanism and there should be no difference in generated warnings. The check_X_compiler_flag cmake test is changed to test each flag individually. We need a list, not a space separated string, and the aggregate test is not significant. 2016-05-03Implement Export PDU for tsharkAndersBroman1-0/+1
This patch introduces the "-U tap_name[,filter]" tshark option and is similar to the "Export PDUs as file" option in Wireshark. Wireshark implements this feature by reopening a capture file, applying a tap and finally opening the temporary file. Since tshark knows in advance that a PDU export is needed, it can optimize by not creating the temporary file and perform the export at the first opportunity. This patch splits the opening/tapping functionality from error reporting since tshark does not need a temp file and has no dialogs. The capture file comment is now specified explicitly as there is no "current file" anymore if the tap is running without active file. TODO: - Review whether it is acceptable to overwrite save_file in tshark. - Add documentation (tshark manpage). Add "/WX" to the Visual C++ compiler flags if DISABLE_WERROR is off, similar to config.nmake. We haven't compiled C++ code with -Wshorten-64-to-32 for quite some time so there's no need to add -Wno-shorten-64-to-32 in ui/qt/CMakeLists.txt. Fill in GeoIP columns dynamically instead of using a hard-coded limit. Use "endp_" and "ENDP_" prefixes for a lot of endpoint variables and defines. Items are sorted by value. Move common conversation code to ui/conversation_hash.[ch]. Add a conversation_type_e enum along with convenience functions for fetching titles, tap names, etc. We have a single main dialog instead of a main dialog + individual protocol dialogs. It de-clutters the statistics menu and results in simpler code. Conversation type tabs can be added and removed within the dialog itself. The tab list is sticky and saved with the current profile when the dialog closes. Data can be copied as CSV or YAML. Add a FilterAction class and a corresponding filterAction slot to MainWindow. Use it for the Conversations context menu. Add an addressResolutionChanged signal and related plumbing. Get rid of the iterator members in the conversation item struct. Update the GTK+ code accordingly. Excercise for the reader: - Update TShark to use the common hash code.
