2024-04-05Remove init to zero for static variablesStig Bjørlykke1-1/+1
The C standard requires that objects with static storage duration is initialized to zero.
2024-03-14Tools: Add a quiet option to asn2wrsGerald Combs1-1/+1
Duplicate type and field names don't seem to be a big problem, so add a "-q" option to asn2wrs which suppresses those warnings. Use it in the "asn1" CMake target.

2021-07-26asn1: convert most dissectors to pinfo->poolEvan Huus1-10/+10
Part 2/2 as the commits were too big for CI. Largely find/replace, with a few manual tweaks. Then regenerate the asn1 dissector sources and make sure everything still builds. There are a handful of cases I skipped as too complex, but this covers most of the asn1 dissectors.
2021-04-30Cast away the return value of g_strlcpy() and g_strlcat().Guy Harris1-8/+8
Most of the time, the return value tells us nothing useful, as we've already decided that we're perfectly willing to live with string truncation. Hopefully this keeps Coverity from whining that those routines could return an error code (NARRATOR: They don't) and thus that we're ignoring the possibility of failure (as indicated, we've already decided that we can live with string truncation, so truncation is *NOT* a failure).

2017-01-10Rename tvb_new_subset() to tvb_new_subset_length_caplen().Guy Harris1-3/+3
This emphasizes that there is no such thing as *the* routine to construct a subset tvbuff; you need to choose one of tvb_new_subset_remaining() (if you want a new tvbuff that contains everything past a certain point in an existing tvbuff), tvb_new_subset_length() (if you want a subset that contains everything past a certain point, for some number of bytes, in an existing tvbuff), and tvb_new_subset_length_caplen() (for all other cases). Many of the calls to tvb_new_subset_length_caplen() should really be calling one of the other routines; that's the next step. (This also makes it easier to find the calls that need fixing.) 2014-07-06Add printf-format annotations, fix garbagePeter Wu1-4/+4
The WRETH dissector showed up some garbage in the column display. Upon further inspection, it turns out that the format string had a trailing percent sign which caused (unsigned)-1 to be returned by g_printf_string_upper_bound (in emem_strdup_vprintf). Then ep_alloc is called with (unsigned)-1 + 1 = 0 memory, no wonder that garbage shows up. ASAN could not even catch this error because EP is in charge of this. So, start adding G_GNUC_PRINTF annotations in each header that uses the "fmt" or "format" paramters (grepped + awk). This revealed some other errors. The NCP2222 dissector was missing a format string (not a security vuln though). Many dissectors used val_to_str with a constant (but empty) string, these have been replaced by val_to_str_const. ASN.1 dissectors were regenerated for this. Minor: the mate plugin used "%X" instead of "%p" for a pointer type. The ncp2222 dissector and wimax plugin gained modelines.
