2014-07-15Only one buffer.c, please.Guy Harris1-162/+0
Otherwise, if you link with both libwiretap and libfiletap, it's anybody's guess which one you get. That means you're wasting memory with two copies of its routines if they're identical, and means surprising behavior if they're not (which showed up when I was debugging a double-free crash - fixing libwiretap's buffer_free() didn't fix the problem, because Wireshark happened to be calling libfiletap' unfixed buffer_free()). There's nothing *tap-specific about Buffers, anyway, so it really belongs in wsutil. 2014-07-15Have buffer_free() null out the buffer data pointer.Guy Harris1-1/+2
That prevents some double-free issues (I got one when doing non-"Update list of packets in real time" captures, if I do one such capture and then another one). 2000-08-11Miscellaneous code cleaningLaurent Deniel1-1/+3
- add <stdarg.h> or <varargs.h> in snprintf.h and remove those inclusions in the other #ifdef NEED_SNPRINTF_H codes - remove the check of multiple inclusions in source (.c) code (there is a bit loss of _cpp_ performance, but I prefer the gain of code reading and maintenance; and nowadays, disk caches and VM are correctly optimized ;-). - protect all (well almost) header files against multiple inclusions - add header (i.e. GPL license) in some include files - reorganize a bit the way header files are included: First: #include <system_include_files> #include <external_package_include_files (e.g. gtk, glib etc.)> Then #include "ethereal_include_files" with the correct HAVE_XXX or NEED_XXX protections. - add some HAVE_XXX checks before including some system header files - add the same HAVE_XXX in wiretap as in ethereal Please forgive me, if I break something (I've only compiled and regression tested on Linux). svn path=/trunk/; revision=2254

1998-11-12A lengthy patch to add the wiretap library. Wiretap is not used by defaultGilbert Ramirez1-0/+130
because it is still in its infancy, but it can be compiled in optionally. The library exists in its own subdirectory ethereal/wiretap. This patch also edits all the packet-*.c files to remove the #include <pcap.h> line which is unnecessary in these files. In the ethereal code, file.c is the most heavily modified with #ifdef WITH_WIRETAP lines for the optional library. svn path=/trunk/; revision=82
