2019-07-26HTTPS (almost) everywhere.Guy Harris2-2/+2
Change all wireshark.org URLs to use https. Fix some broken links while we're at it. Change-Id: I161bf8eeca43b8027605acea666032da86f5ea1c Reviewed-on: https://code.wireshark.org/review/34089 Reviewed-by: Guy Harris <guy@alum.mit.edu>
2019-07-18fuzzshark: add usage documentationPeter Wu1-3/+41
For those running the 'fuzzshark' binary directly, try to show some helpful usage information instead of crashing with an assertion failure. This does not affect the oss-fuzz builds which use the 'fuzzshark_*' targets instead of the 'fuzzshark' one. 2019-01-12CMake: use object libraries to avoid redundant buildsPeter Wu1-2/+1
Some source files are duplicated via add_executable. Assuming that these are not affected by target-specific preprocessor macros, they can be built only once and shared among executables. In one configuration, this reduces the number of object files by 55 (cli_main.c and version_info.c alone were built 15 times each). Removes the version dependency from each target since the 'version_info' target can now declare this dependency. Remove CLEAN_C_FILES from extcap since it is not used to set -Werror. Due to removing some files from wireshark_FILES (and others), these are no longer part of checkAPIs though. Hopefully that is acceptable. 2019-01-01Move some command-line-oriented routines from wsutil to ui.Guy Harris2-1/+2
cmdarg_err() is for reporting errors for command-line programs and command-line errors in GUI programs; it's not something for any of the Wireshark libraries to use. The various routines for parsing numerical command-line arguments are not for general use, they're just for use when parsing arguments. 2018-12-13Move more version-info-related stuff to version_info.c.Guy Harris1-20/+3
Have a ws_init_version_info() routine that, given an application name string: constructs the app-name-and-version-information string, and saves it; adds the initial crash information on platforms that support it, and saves it. Have show_version() use the saved information and take no arguments. Add a show_help_header() routine to print the header for --help command-line options, given a description of the application; it prints the application name and version information, the description, and the "See {wireshark.org URL}" line. Use those routines in various places, including providing the "application name" string in pcapng SHBs. 2018-11-29CMake: Fix some transitive link dependenciesJoão Valverde1-1/+2
libwireshark and libwiretap have their INTERFACE link dependencies changed to the required set. libwsutil keeps a default public visibility. Further work may show some unneeded link requirements. The executable dependencies are adjusted accordingly. Change-Id: I3a534f72403819cac136ae47a3d80acee76e0fb3 Reviewed-on: https://code.wireshark.org/review/30815 Reviewed-by: João Valverde <j@v6e.pt>

2018-10-20fuzzshark: integrate oss-fuzz targets in CMakePeter Wu4-0/+809
The current fuzzshark target built by CMake is not usable for fuzzing. Address this by adding a new ENABLE_FUZZER option that enables mandatory instrumentation and libFuzzer linking options for the fuzzshark binary. Create more CMake targets for specific fuzzing targets such as fuzzshark_ip and fuzzshark_ip_proto-udp. These targets are not built by default, either build individual targets or use the all-fuzzers target. Now these binaries are not specific to oss-fuzz, so move them to a new directory (perhaps the corpora can be added here in the future). oss-fuzz build.sh is simplified and reuses the CMake targets. When OSS_FUZZ is set, it will force static linking with external libraries and limit parallel linker jobs (maybe not necessary for Google's oss-fuzz builders, but my 8G/6c VM ran out of memory).
