2021-07-21First pass pinfo->pool conversion, part 2Evan Huus1-8/+8
Automated find/replace of wmem_packet_scope() with pinfo->pool in all files where it didn't cause a build failure.
2021-07-01DNP3: Add Octet string length to item textGraham Bloice1-0/+7
The Octet string is an outlier amongst DNP3 objects as the variation doesn't define a specific type of string but the length. Presiously the length was not displayed in the packet details, this change adds the length to the object header.
2021-06-26DNP: use the proper free functionPascal Quantin1-1/+1
g618661b22e introduced a free for a so called memory leak (which wasn't a real leak due to the pinfo->pool garbage collector) but used the wrong free function. Let's keep the explicit free but use the right function. Closes #17462

2021-04-24DNP3: Add TLS dissectorferst1-7/+10
IEEE 1815-2012[1] section 7.8 describes the use of DNP3 over TLS using TCP port 19999. This commit creates a global to store the return of `register_dissector` and then calls `ssl_dissector_add` in `proto_reg_handoff_dnp3`. [1] https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/servlet/opac?punumber=6327576

2020-06-19Fix the type of arrays of pointers to hf_ values for bitfield routines.Guy Harris1-3/+3
The static arrays are supposed to be arrays of const pointers to int, not arrays of non-const pointers to const int. Fixing that means some bugs (scribbling on what's *supposed* to be a const array) will be caught (see packet-ieee80211-radiotap.c for examples, the first of which inspired this change and the second of which was discovered while testing compiles with this change), and removes the need for some annoying casts. Also make some of those arrays static while we're at it. Update documentation and dissector-generator tools. 2018-12-27Try to squeeze some bytes out of the frame_data structure.Guy Harris1-1/+1
Make the time stamp precision a 4-bit bitfield, so, when combined with the other bitfields, we have 32 bits. That means we put the flags at the same structure level as the time stamp precision, so they can be combined; that gets rid of an extra "flags." for references to the flags. Put the two pointers next to each other, and after a multiple of 8 bytes worth of other fields, so that there's no padding before or between them. It's still not down to 64 bytes, which is the next lower power of 2, so there's more work to do. 2016-10-08Combine Decode As and port preferences for tcp.port dissector table.Michael Mann1-1/+1
This patch introduces new APIs to allow dissectors to have a preference for a (TCP) port, but the underlying data is actually part of Decode As functionality. For now the APIs are intentionally separate from the regular APIs that register a dissector within a dissector table. It may be possible to eventually combine the two so that all dissectors that register with a dissector table have an opportunity to "automatically" have a preference to adjust the "table value" through the preferences dialog. The tcp.port dissector table was used as the guinea pig. This will eventually be expanded to other dissector tables as well (most notably UDP ports). Some dissectors that "shared" a TCP/UDP port preference were also converted. It also removed the need for some preference callback functions (mostly when the callback function was the proto_reg_handoff function) so there is cleanup around that. Dissectors that has a port preference whose default was 0 were switched to using the dissector_add_for_decode_as_with_preference API rather than dissector_add_uint_with_preference Also added comments for TCP ports used that aren't IANA registered. In particular, including <epan/address.h> causes some functions that refer to libwireshark functions to be defined if the compiler doesn't handle "static inline" the way GCC does, and you end up requiring libwireshark even though you shouldn't require it. Also add parameter to heur_dissector_add() for the "default" enable/disable of a heuristic dissector. With this parameter, a few more (presumably weak) heuristic dissectors have been "registered" but of course default to being disabled. 2015-07-03Call reassembly_table_destroy and move g_hash_table_destroyPeter Wu1-5/+8
This patch moves g_hash_table_destroy calls from the init routine to the cleanup routine. Besides that, the conditional check for the hash table has been removed, assuming that init is always paired with a cleanup call. If reassembly_table_init is found, a reassembly_table_destroy call is prepended to the cleanup function as well. Comments have been removed from the init function as well as these did not seem to have additional value ("destroy hash table" is clear from the context). The changes were automatically generated using https://git.lekensteyn.nl/peter/wireshark-notes/diff/one-off/cleanup-rewrite.py?id=4d11f07180d9c115eb14bd860e9a47d82d3d1dcd Manually edited files (for assignment auditing): dvbci, ositp, sccp, tcp. Other files that needed special attention due to the use of register_postseq_cleanup_routine: - ipx: keep call, do not add another cleanup routine. - ncp: remove empty mncp_postseq_cleanup. mncp_hash_lookup is used even if a frame is visited before (see dissect_ncp_common), hence the hash table cannot be destroyed here. Do it in cleanup instead. - ndps: add cleanup routine to kill reassembly table, but do not destroy the hash table as it is already done in ndps_postseq_cleanup.
