2012-02-03qdev: register all types natively through QEMU Object ModelAnthony Liguori1-7/+9
This was done in a mostly automated fashion. I did it in three steps and then rebased it into a single step which avoids repeatedly touching every file in the tree. The first step was a sed-based addition of the parent type to the subclass registration functions. The second step was another sed-based removal of subclass registration functions while also adding virtual functions from the base class into a class_init function as appropriate. Finally, a python script was used to convert the DeviceInfo structures and qdev_register_subclass functions to TypeInfo structures, class_init functions, and type_register_static calls. This was done with: sed -i 's/qemu_get_clock\>/qemu_get_clock_ns/' \ $(git grep -l 'qemu_get_clock\>' ) sed -i 's/qemu_new_timer\>/qemu_new_timer_ns/' \ $(git grep -l 'qemu_new_timer\>' ) after checking that get_clock and new_timer never occur twice on the same line. There were no missed occurrences; however, even if there had been, they would have been caught by the compiler. There was exactly one false positive in qemu_run_timers: - current_time = qemu_get_clock (clock); + current_time = qemu_get_clock_ns (clock); which is of course not in this patch. 2010-12-12Watchdog: disable watchdog timer when hard-rebooting a guest.Richard W.M. Jones1-1/+4
This commit causes the watchdog timer to be reset when a guest is hard-rebooted. The failure case previously was as follows: (a) guest boots, watchdog is enabled (b) guest does a reset eg: echo 'b' > /proc/sysrq-trigger (note that an ordinary /sbin/reboot wouldn't hit this case since as the watchdog daemon is shut down, the daemon would properly disable the watchdog device) (c) the reboot takes longer than the remaining time on the watchdog (d) the watchdog therefore fires during the reboot (e) probably the VM would just reboot again at this point which is pretty benign, but it could depend on the action that the user had selected for the watchdog Now we use the qdev reset function to register a reset handler which disables the timer. Note the handler is called _either_ just after init _or_ when the guest reboots. In the i6300esb case there is a small refactoring of the code so that the device's internal state is now fully restored to defaults on a reboot. Signed-off-by: Richard W.M. 2010-12-11wdt_i6300esb: register a reset functionBernhard Kohl1-18/+21
The device shall set its default hardware state after each reset. This includes that the timer is stopped which is especially important if the guest does a reboot independantly of a watchdog bite. I moved the initialization of the state variables completely from the init to the reset function which is called right after init during the first boot and afterwards during each reboot. 2010-12-11Add endianness as io mem parameterAlexander Graf1-1/+2
As stated before, devices can be little, big or native endian. The target endianness is not of their concern, so we need to push things down a level. This patch adds a parameter to cpu_register_io_memory that allows a device to choose its endianness. For now, all devices simply choose native endian, because that's the same behavior as before. Don't overwrite pci header type. Otherwise, multi function bit which pci_init_header_type() sets appropriately is lost. Anyway PCI_HEADER_TYPE_NORMAL is zero, so it is unnecessary to zero which is already zero cleared. how to test: run qemu and issue info pci to see whether a device in question is normal device, not pci-to-pci bridge. 2009-08-27qdev: add return value to init() callbacks.Gerd Hoffmann1-1/+3
Sorry folks, but it has to be. One more of these invasive qdev patches. We have a serious design bug in the qdev interface: device init callbacks can't signal failure because the init() callback has no return value. This patch fixes it. We have already one case in-tree where this is needed: Try -device virtio-blk-pci (without drive= specified) and watch qemu segfault. This patch fixes it. With usb+scsi being converted to qdev we'll get more devices where the init callback can fail for various reasons. 2009-08-27qdev: convert watchdogsMarkus Armbruster1-15/+14
-watchdog NAME is now equivalent to -device NAME, except it treats option argument '?' specially, and supports only one watchdog. A side effect is that a device created with -watchdog may now receive a different PCI address. i6300esb is now available on any machine with a PCI bus, not just PCs. ib700 is still PC only, but that could be changed easily. The only remaining use of struct WatchdogTimerModel and watchdog_add_model() is supporting '-watchdog ?'. Should be replaced by searching device_info_list for watchdog devices when we can identify them there. Also fixes ib700 not to use vm_clock before it is initialized: in wdt_ib700_init(), called from register_watchdogs(), which runs before init_timers().
